Conserve Water, India!

This is a water awareness platform presenting the results of a comprehensive water audit survey conducted across several states in India. Water is our most vital resource, and understanding its consumption patterns is crucial. This initiative aims to uncover trends and insights into water usage among Indian households, highlighting areas where conservation efforts can be most effective.

This bar chart displays the average water usage per state in India. Our findings indicate that Goa has the lowest water consumption per household, while Karnataka has the highest.

This interactive pie chart allows you to select a state from a dropdown menu to view the distribution of water usage across different activities. It provides insights into how water is used for different purposes in each state, helping identify potential areas for conservation efforts.

This bar chart shows the average water usage based on different occupations. It highlights how various jobs influence water consumption, which can be crucial for targeted water conservation initiatives. The chart is divided into segments for each category of water use, providing a detailed overview of consumption patterns.

Our findings reveal that the average person has a higher rate of water consumption than urban and rural India, indicating opportunities to enhance conservation efforts and align with efficient usage standards seen in countries like France.

What can YOU do?

According to our findings, you can take the following steps to most effectively conserve water:

Leaving faucets or taps on for too long results in the greatest depletion of water, followed by baths using showers and buckets. Simple actions like turning off taps while brushing teeth can significantly conserve water.

Showering consumes more water than using buckets, indicating a potential for significant conservation by encouraging shorter showers, installing water-saving showerheads, and promoting usage of buckets to reduce water usage.

Washing machines generally use more water than washing clothes by hand, presenting an opportunity for conservation by using machines efficiently, such as running full loads and opting for water-efficient models.
